Children learn through play. Through exploration and experimentation children develop physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. The CDP California State Preschool Program provides a developmentally appropriate learning environment that blends child initiated and teacher directed activities designed to promote success for every child.
Preschool Instructors plan activities to support spontaneous interactions that develop a child’s positive feelings toward learning and encourage confidence and self-esteem. The CSPP Preschool staff is sensitive to diversity and welcomes all families.
The CDP CSPP Programs were established in 1992 to serve the community at large and provide quality education and services for the families and children who are enrolled. The CSPP Preschool classrooms are licensed through the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, and contracted though the State Department of Education, Child Development Division. Under the direction of the CDP Administrative staff, the CSPP provides comprehensive educational and developmentally appropriate services designed to meet the needs of children who are three and four years old.
The program includes:
Educational services for children
Parent education workshops
Parent participation in the classroom
Parent Advisory Committee
Health and nutritional services
Social Service referrals to agencies within the community
Each CDP CSPP operates 3.5 hours(8:30 AM-12 PM) per day, Monday through Friday. Extended care is not available for CDP CSPP children. The CDP CSPP preschool program is a ten month program and follows the schedule of the Saugus Union School District calendar, August to June.
The CDP CSPP is designed to provide developmentally appropriate experiences through a comprehensive pre-kindergarten curriculum, OWL (Opening the World of Learning). OWL prepares children for Kindergarten through playful, purposeful, and personalized instruction. OWL develops language and early literacy skills in the context of research-based and field-tested content, including math, science, and social studies.
The CDP CSPP provides a warm and engaging atmosphere conducive to meet each child’s unique needs. The programs foster development in the following areas:
