Welcome to Our School

Rio Vista Elementary School serves 500 K–6 students in Canyon Country, California. Our school is one of 15 elementary schools in the Saugus Union School District. We are honored to be a 2020 California Distinguished School, 2016 California Gold Ribbon School, and 1991–1992 National Blue Ribbon School. We are also proud to be a 2013 recipient of a Title I Academic Achievement Award from the California Department of Education, awarded to schools that have demonstrated success in significantly closing the achievement gap between high and low-performing students.

A Message from Our Principal

The staff at Rio Vista is united in providing students with a rigorous academic program that will ensure students are inquirers, knowledgeable, and caring young people. Teachers tailor the academic program to the unique needs of students and are dedicated to the development of the whole child: emotional, physical, and intellectual.

Our educational goal is to help create an exciting educational experience for students in which they develop natural curiosity, apply critical thinking skills, and develop understanding across a broad range of subjects.

Through our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, we provide the support to help students develop empathy, compassion, and become principled. Our PBIS expectations are S.O.A.R.:
